How do I get better connected to God?

First you must realize that the force that wants you to connect (God) is greater than the force that does not want you to connect (Satan).  God is the creator.  God at any time could stop this struggle that we find ourselves in, and in His perfect time He will stop it.  Satan’s role is the destroyer.  He has a pretty easy job.  Nearly anyone can mess things up.  He is pretty good at his job, too.

The most common word for sin in both the Old and the New Testament means “to miss the mark.”  It is a good archery term.  It means to miss the bull’s eye.  Satan does not care if our sin causes us to miss God’s bull’s eye to the right or the left.  He does not care if we shoot too high or too low.  All he cares about is that you miss God and miss His best for your life.

During a time of reprioritizing the early leaders of the church realized that two personal spiritual disciplines were essential to connect with God and hit His bull's eye.  They were spending daily time with God in prayer and in the Bible.

"But we will devote ourselves to prayer, and

to the ministry of the word."   Acts 6:4

You might be asking, “Is it really that simple?”

This is where we start.  This is where we learn about repentance, salvation, and spiritual growth.  I would love to talk to you more about these areas and the next steps.  In our new member class, Evergreen 101, we talk about biblical foundations for the church and for you as a person.  We will give you a road map from God’s Word so that you can know better what God really wants from and for you.

There is a great spiritual journey in front of you, “because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4.
