E227: A Biblical View of Property Ownership

Aug 7, 2026    Pastor Michael Gabbert

In a generation where socialism is increasingly attractive to people, it's interesting to stop and consider just how much interest the God of the Bible has and the question of property ownership. It says in both Psalm 24 and Psalm 50, that the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. In other words, from the very beginning God claims ownership for Himself, for the property, that is creation. As soon as Adam was given life in Genesis chapter 2, he's then given responsibility, ownership, you might say, for real estate. Actual property. In fact, the entire Old Testament can be seen as a massive commentary on property law. Why does this matter? Well, there's some real practical issues in front of us as our next election approaches. So let's talk about the question of the biblical view of property.
