Ministry Resident Program

What is the Ministry Resident Program?

Our Ministry Residency Program differs from a ministry internship in that it seeks to give a broad, whole-church overview of ministry and engagement. Over the 50-week program, residents will gain church experience and Biblical knowledge necessary for future ministry leadership. In particular, residents will gain real and practical ministry experience by working alongside a ministry leader in a specific ministry area. This ministry leader will invest in them personally through teaching them healthy habits and disciplines. Professionally, they will help residents learn ministry leadership through hands-on experiences. Residents will grow spiritually as they experience Biblical relationship with their ministry lead or another Evergreen staff member.

What Will Our Residents Be Doing?

The goal of this residency is to equip and prepare individuals for leadership roles within the local church. This is achieved by offering a diverse range of experiential learning opportunities in practical ministry settings, imparting Biblical knowledge in classroom environments, and fostering personal, professional, and spiritual growth through discipleship relationships.

Another way residents will grow is through the classroom experience on Mondays. Courses the residents will experience include:
  • Church History Survey
  • Hermeneutics
  • Formation Through Spiritual Disciplines
  • Systematic Theology
  • Fundamentals of Teaching
  • Biblical Leadership Competencies
  • Biblical Counseling
  • And More!

Brenna Crow

Discipleship Ministry
Learn More About Me
My name is Brenna Crow, and I am 24 years old. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma and have been working for my family's restaurant, Goldie's. I have lived in Bixby my whole life with my parents, Steve and Kipley, and my two older sisters, Brittany Powers and Brooke Hall. I like to do all things crafty, and be creative in my free time. As a Theatre major, I also love watching movies in my free time. I came to Evergreen in the Spring of 2022 after I moved back home from college. I hadn't been attending a church before I left for college and knew I needed a community when I returned. My good friend Sandy Mormon said we NEEDED to hear Pastor Gabbert preach; from the first sermon, we knew this was our home. This was further confirmed as we found our Sunday Schools, Lifegroups, etc., and saw the love of Christ overflowing from the body of Evergreen. I chose to do the Residency Program because I have been feeling a possible call to vocational ministry this past year. I sought counsel from the spiritual leaders in my life. As I was asked why I wanted to do it, I found myself saying, "I don't want to do anything else." I knew then I needed to apply and begin walking in obedience. I ask that you pray for my heart. Pray that I don't let ego or insecurity get in the way of this incredible opportunity. Pray that I would be blissfully self-forgetful and fully present to what the Lord has for me.

Hannah Killough

Family Life Ministry
Learn More About Me
My name is Hannah Killough and I am 18 years old. I am originally from California, I moved to Oklahoma 3 years ago with my mom and grandparents. In 2023-2024 I had the opportunity to participate in the World Race mission program. I love driving while listening to worship music, playing and watching basketball, walking my dog, and late night waffle house runs. The Lord brought me and my family to Oklahoma in 2021, but before we moved we knew we were ready for a solid church home. I looked on google maps, found Evergreen, and we started watching online services before we were even in Oklahoma! I have chosen to spend the next year in the residency because I spent 9 months of this past year on an overseas mission trip and I loved the idea of being able to spend a year loving and serving my church family at home while getting to experience vocational ministry. I would ask that you pray for me over this year, pray that the Lord would continue to soften my heart and break my heart for what breaks His!

Levi Mattes

Counseling/ Men's Ministry
Learn More About Me
My name is Levi Mattes (pronounced mad-iss) and I am 28 years old. Originally I am from California but I have lived in Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and South Carolina. I recently graduated with my Master's in Pastoral Counseling with an emphasis in Crisis and Trauma Care with additional certifications in disaster recovery care, suicide prevention, and more. I served 6 years in the USAF and deployed to Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Pakistan before leaving and moving to Tulsa with my family. I have been married for 8 years, and we have 3 sons aged 5, 2, and 4 months. We also have about 5 chickens at any given time. In my free time I enjoy power lifting, gardening with my wife, and playing with my boys. I have flown an F-16 fighter jet for about 3 minutes. It took me that long to forget which way was up and that I never wanted to pilot one again. My wife grew up at Evergreen. So we moved back when I left the USAF. I guess you could say I married into Evergreen.
As I began to answer God's call on my life to ministry, I was asked what I was doing to prepare to be a Pastor. To Shepard people's hearts. The Residency was God's plan to give me a front row seat to Pastoral Ministry without any outside interruptions for this season. I ask that you be praying for me this year, preferably "without ceasing" please. In all honesty though, that I will be obedient to the Lord's desires and direction. Pray my relationship and knowledge of God will deepen, and that my family will continue to be my true first ministry.

Josh Randol

Learn More About Me
My name is Josh Randol and I am 22 years old. I am originally from Beggs, Oklahoma. I studied Construction Management at OSUIT after high school. My parents raised me and my two older siblings in a Southern Baptist church in Beggs. I am now married to my wife Addie and living here in Tulsa with our dog. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, listening to music, and my favorite season is Fall. I am also an avid whitetail deer hunter. I began attending Evergreen in search of community in the summer of 2021 after my older sister and her husband became members. After experiencing a push from the Lord to learn to do ministry He then provided an opportunity to do that. My prayer request is that the Lord would continually remind me of who I am and who He is despite who I am and that He would continue to always guide me to Him and not idolize the ministry.

I ask that you be praying for me, pray that the Lord would bring clarity to my calling to ministry for me and my wife.

Learn More About Me
My name is Savannah Sturgeon and I am 25 years old. I earned an associate degree in Elementary Education from Rogers State in 2021. I was born and raised in Broken Arrow, and while I have spent most of my time living here, I have also lived in Shawnee, Claremore, and Joplin Missouri. I have been pursuing ministry since I received the call in 2019. In my free time I love to crochet and hand make things for others. I spend a lot of time with family and friends or hanging out with my dog Theo. An interesting fact about me is that I collect elephants and have upwards of 30+ stuffed elephants or elephant figurines. My parents and I have attended Evergreen since 2013. In Spetember of 2022 I moved my membership and began working as a ministry assistant at Claremore First Baptist. Then in 2023 I moved my membership to Joplin First Baptist where I served as a Children's Director. This past June I returned to Evergreen and reinstated my membership. I have chosen to be a part of the Residency so that I may continue to learn and grow in ministry and that I might be better equipped for wherever God will take me next in ministry. I ask that Evergreen would pray that God would continue to strengthen me and embolden me to grow in and do the work He has called me to do.

How Can You Help?

The most important thing that our team of Residents need is prayer. You can support every one of them by praying over their hearts and minds as they go through the program this year. Another way that you can support the ministry is financially.

Sponsor Residency Lunch

Every Monday our Residents will be spending their full 8 hour work day in the classroom. We would love to be able to provide them a hot lunch on these days from their church family who loves them. If you or your life group would like to sponsor a $150 lunch for our Residents one Monday this coming year, click below for more information.

Sponsor Conferences and Curriculum

As the year goes on, our Residents will be taking several courses along with the work they will be doing with their ministry lead. These courses require curriculum that costs about $500 each. We will also be taking our Residents to a church leaders conference in Dallas, TX in the spring. The total cost of admission, travel, food, and lodging is about $500 each as well. If you are interested in sponsoring a Resident for their curriculum or conference, click below.

Sponsor Future Resident Scholarship

Each year Evergreen will budget for a certain number of Residents to be accepted. We would like to offer the opportunity for church members to scholarship future Residents to maximize the reach and effectiveness of future church leaders. There are options to give a full ($6,000), half ($3,000), or quarter ($1,500) scholarship. For more details click below.
